Mach-aire Large Custom Walk-in Fume Hood Successfully Deployed in the Indian Market for “Multinational Pharmaceutical Company”

Recently, Techlab successfully completed the delivery of a project for a renowned pharmaceutical company’s R&D center in India. To address the unique operational requirements of the customers Kilo Laboratory with large floor-standing production and R&D equipment in pharmaceutical processes, Techlab provided a Mach-Aire oversized custom walk-in sliding-door fume hood system.

Marking another significant milestone in expanding into overseas markets and serving global pharmaceutical companies, this project not only resolved ventilation challenges in extra-large spaces but also provided end-to-end custom design, manufacturing, and cross-border installation services. Furthermore, the results of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on the sampled products met the ASHRAE 110-2016 standard.

Technical Highlights and Delivery Details


Extra-large walk-in closet with sliding door design:

· Designed for: Complex operating conditions, such as accommodating the direct entry and exit of large ground-level transfer vehicles and facilitating collaborative operations by multiple personnel.

· Solution:

          · ①The floor design incorporates customized, heavy-duty stainless steel tracks that are pre-embedded in the laboratory floor. This design ensures that large material transfer carts and floor-mounted equipment can enter equipment with a “floor-level” structure without encountering any thresholds.

          · ②Equipped with a high-strength, lightweight multi-panel sliding door system, it not only provides an exceptionally wide opening (capable of accommodating large equipment installed as a single unit) but also, for sliding doors over 2 meters in height, ensures minimal physical sway by optimizing the clearance between the door and the track. This guarantees smooth sliding while minimizing sway, thereby enhancing the structural stability of heavy-duty sliding doors during frequent operation.

· Structural and Material Reliability: To ensure the structural stability of the extra-large fume hood during long-term, high-frequency use, the front frame cover is made of 6mm TRESPA, while the interior lining of the fume hood is made of 8mm TRESPA. This combination of high-strength materials not only enhances the overall resistance to deformation but also ensures the stability of the equipment’s physical performance under extreme operating conditions.

FAT verification by a third-party certification

· To ensure that the safety of non-standard equipment meets international standards, the extra-large model (custom cabinet dimensions: 2800W x 2000D x 3900H) delivered in this shipment underwent third-party certification testing at a testing agency’s laboratory prior to shipment.

· Acceptance Criteria: The results of FAT verification by a third-party certification indicate that the gas containment efficiency and leakage rate of the sampled Mach-Aire fume hoods comply with the ASHRAE 110-2016 standard.
